So there is this house that I’ve often walked past, whilst admiring it’s rustic beauty. It’s brick, with ornate iron work, with cool windows and a big section. I’ve always loved it and wanted to see what the inside looks like, but since I’m not a complete nut case (most of the time…) I haven’t asked the lucky strangers who own it, if I can come in and perve at their home. ‘Cos that would be totally weird. And stalkery. So when I showed up to my lifestyle session this weekend, I was stoked to realise that it was to be at aforementioned dream home and I get to go inside and be a total weirdo after all! I photographed the Coplands a few years ago (Obviously in a different house) when Connor was a baby. Now baby Mason is on the scene along with the cutest cat I’ve ever seen called Thomas. Connor was so much fun during our session, as most energetic toddlers are, and he’s super lucky to have such great parents, who have great taste in real estate and decor. And Mason? Oh my gosh I could just eat him up. I also wanted to smuggle Thomas out in my jacket…….okay I better stop now! You’ll understand once you see them. Enjoy! xxxx
T A while ago, I met Alisha and her newborn daughter Paige at their home for a newborn session. One of the photos of Paige was my favourite newborn image of that year - she was a tiny bundle in a big basket. Now two years later I got to meet little Jack, Paige's cute baby brother during our lifestyle session in their new home. The style of my photography has changed a bit since then - I'm really drawn to the more natural images that lifestyle photography can offer. I love being able to show the beauty of a day at home with the kids, and I must say that Alisha is doing a fantastic job of raising her little ones (including the crazy kitten they have!) Here is a tiny snippet of Alisha's families day. xxx
T You might remember seeing Jackie and Corey when we did a gorgeous maternity shoot with them a few weeks ago. Well little Kaiawa arrived on the 8th of July and he was totally worth the wait! Isn't he just squishable?! Congratulations guys! He's perfect!
On Tuesday I got meet little Ella! Despite being born four and a half weeks early, she is a healthy and happy wee thing, with the biggest eyes and the cutest little face...oh my gosh, I couldn't stop cooing! Then there was the little dog that I could cuddle while Ella was busy feeding - basically I got my cuddle quota filled for the day from this session alone. Actually who am I kidding? I still needed cuddles from my kids when they got home from school, even though they are nowhere near as squishy as this little one. What can I say? I like me some cuddles. Okay, enough from me. Enjoy the sneak peek! Actually one more thing: Emma looked totally amazing, her hair was done all pretty, and she was rocking some styley clothes, man I wish I looked that good after my bubba's! Thank you soooo much for having me over Emma! I hope to see you again as she grows!
PS. I've had a few enquiries about my lifestyle newborn sessions are, and what they look like...this is a good example. Nice and chilled, not posed but still soooo cute! One of the great things about being a self-employed photographer is that you can choose to do different types of shoots. Occasionally I like to change things up a bit, so when Liam asked me to photograph his home-town performance, I was pretty excited! I love challenging myself with new genres - and a show with it's own complex lighting set up would be totally different to a classic wedding or newborn session!
Here's a little sneak-peek of my first ever attempt at concert photography. Last week I had my fourth session with this wonderful family. I met Pedro shortly after he was born, and have seen him every year since then. His personality has grown along with him - he's now a cheeky little man with very firm ideas of what he wants, a big smile and an adventurous nature. I love watching his parents with him too - the different roles they play that together make a cohesive parenting team. Both of them simply adore their son, and it's so clear during our sessions that he is one lucky wee boy. Andrea and Rodd - it was wonderful to see you again! Looking forward to next year!
I lOVE Autumn! The colours are just so gorgeous that I don't even mind being cold half the time.
This super good looking family are the Foxcrofts. We met in the domain for a family session when some of the group were over here from Perth. We had one small window when we could do the session before flights home, so we were all stoked when the weather cleared for a bit - even if it was a bit chilly. Foxcrofts, it was a pleasure photographing your family! Enjoy this sneak peek. My mothers day treat this year was to leave my family behind and jump on a (tiny) plane to Napier with friends and fellow photographers Sarah and Laura. We were meant to be attending a photography workshop, which was cancelled after we'd already purchased our flights. Not wanting to waste our tickets, we packed our gear and headed North. I fell in love with Napier. The vibe is incredible, the architecture a blast from the past and the people are super lovely. The best part of the trip though was getting to talk with and learn from talented artists in the same business as myself. Photography can be a lonely job. We don't have work colleagues to chat with at the figurative water cooler and we spend many hours alone, hunched over our computers in Pjs with coffee rings staining our desks. There is a really big community of us out there though and with the aid of social media we can bounce ideas off each other, learn from and teach each other. There's nothing like meeting people without a screen though, and talking shop with passionate people is a wonderful experience. I learned so much while away and I can't wait to put some of these ideas into play. This is Sarah Clements photo of me that she took while playing on my camera. After a fun session around Napier, we headed to Te Mata Peak. We missed sunset as we had the need to chow down on McDs but it was sooo epic nonetheless. Big shout out to Sarah Clements, Laura Bailey, Michael Shultz, Melody Grace Adams, and Rosie our model, for sharing their time and knowledge with us all.
This was one of those weddings that had me smiling from ear to ear. The set up was amazing, the people were lovely and the whole vibe was just fantastic. Not to mention Charlotte and Sam were surprised with a heli ride, where we headed up above the low clouds to catch the sun setting in the most spectacular setting. I met Charlotte for the first time only a few hours before the ceremony as she and Sam share a home up in Stratford. Her bright smile and easy going nature won me over straight away, and then when I saw the pair together I just knew that they are meant for each other. They are pretty darn cute together! And that dress. OMG, doesn't she just look amazing in it? All the way from Canada, and so worth it! Anyway, enough talk. Enjoy the sneak peek! The ceremony was held at the stunning Geraldine Catholic church. After the breathtaking views it was time to head back down to join the guests at the Mensen Farm. Charlotte, Sam and family. It was such an honor to be part of your day. I wish you all the best!
